On Sept. 18, Deadline reported that director Lee Isaac Chung will direct a live-action remake of Your Name and work off the draft by Emily V. Gordon. Initially, Marc Webb, best known for 500 Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man, was tapped to direct the film last year. Your Name is a 2016 Japanese animated romantic fantasy film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai. It tells the story of a high school boy in Tokyo and a high school girl in a rural town, who discover they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. The film delivers a precious message of connection and fate through a miraculous love story in which the two, who are most unlikely to meet, are destined to save their worlds when a disaster threatens to upend their lives. Toho will handle distribution of the film in Japan while Paramount will be in charge of all other territories. Lee Isaac ChungŌĆÖs latest film Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream and won the Grand Jury and Audience Awards at Sundance 2020.
