The girl group released their second mini album, Girls, on July 8th and became the first female band to have 1.61 million pre-orders. As of yesterday, they have achieved yet another impressive feat by breaking the record of the highest first-week sales. According to Hanteo Chart, Girls sold more than 1 million copies in the first week of its release as of July 14th. The group became the first girl group in Hanteo ChartŌĆÖs history to achieve such a mark. Also, Circle Chart (a.k.a Gaon Chart) reported that their new album sold 1.42 million copies on its first week, making them the first Korean girl group to become a million-seller.
Previously, BLACKPINK had set the highest first-week sales record in 2020, selling more than 680,000 copies of their album, THE ALBUM. They became the first female group to achieve 500,000 copies in first-week sales. Among female solo artists, LisaŌĆÖs Lalisa sold 736,221 copies on the first week of release and set the record for the highest first-week sales among all female soloists.
